GOVERNOR BARBOUR REAPPOINTS GILLESS TO REAL ESTATE COMMISSION
(JACKSON, Mississippi) — Governor Haley Barbour has reapppointed Al Gilless, of Southaven, to the Mississippi Real Estate Commission, which administers control over the commercial real estate industry in state, licensing all real estate brokers and salespersons.
“Al has been an outstanding member of this commission, and I look forward to his continued good works in this capacity,” Governor Barbour said.
Gilless is a self-employed land developer and owns Al Gilless Development, where he specializes in developing residential and commercial real estate across DeSoto, Tate, and Panola Counties. He has been a charter member and director of the Southaven Jaycees; charter member and director of the Southaven Chamber of Commerce; and is actively involved with the Southaven Rotary Club. Gilless was a part of the DeSoto County Planning Commission where he served as chairman of the Comprehensive Plan for Desoto County program. In 1999, Gilless was appointed by Governor Kirk Fordice to the Governor’s Regional Alliance Committee.
In 2001 and again in 2003, Gilless was selected as Rotarian of the Year by the Southaven Rotary Club. He attended Memphis State University and took real estate courses at Northwest Community College. Gilless and his wife, Gloria, have four children.
