Governor Haley Barbour today announced Public Assistance will be available for local governments in Warren, Issaquena and Monroe counties to aid recovery efforts from the severe storms of April 24. The Federal Emergency Management Agency notified Governor Barbour of their decision today.

GOVERNOR BARBOUR ANNOUNCES OKTIBBEHA COUNTY TO RECEIVE FEDERAL AID
Governor Haley Barbour today announced Oktibbeha County residents impacted by the April 24 storms can receive federal assistance to aid recovery. Residents must contact the Federal Emergency Management Agency to receive Individual Assistance. Other counties that have been approved for Individual Assistance programs include: Monroe, Union, Attala, Choctaw, Holmes, Warren and Yazoo.

GOVERNOR BARBOUR DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY IN SEVERAL NORTH MISSISSIPPI COUNTIES
National Guard called to aid emergency response Governor Haley Barbour today declared a State of Emergency in several Mississippi counties damaged by severe spring storms, flooding and tornadoes. He also ordered the Mississippi National Guard to aid local officials with emergency response. The counties affected include: Benton, Lafayette, Panola, Tippah and Union. The State of Emergency order allows emergency responders to efficiently utilize resources and receive state aid to respond to the emergency situation.

GOVERNOR BARBOUR ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL MISSISSIPPI COUNTIES TO RECEIVE FEDERAL AID
Governor Haley Barbour today announced federal assistance was expanded for Mississippi counties, allowing residents and local governments to access federal emergency assistance programs to aid recovery from the April 24 storms. Affected residents in Monroe and Union counties are eligible for Individual Assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. They join Attala, Choctaw, Holmes, Warren and Yazoo counties as qualifying for Individual Assistance.

Nonprofit organization will accept donations for spring storm victims Governor Haley Barbour today announced the creation of the Mississippi Disaster Recovery Fund Inc., a nonprofit that will coordinate donations to aid residents recovering from the April 24 storms.

Governor Haley Barbour today added Mississippi counties with heavy damage from the weekend tornadoes to his request for a federal disaster declaration. If granted, residents and business owners in the affected areas would be eligible for emergency assistance programs.
