STATEMENT OF GOV. BARBOUR ON PRELIMINARY AUGUST REVENUES
“The state’s preliminary revenue collections as of today show our conservative estimate for this fiscal year is on target so far. August revenue came in at 3.91 percent, or $12.4 million, above estimates. While tax collections for the first two months of the fiscal year have been close to our expectations, nothing changes the fact that we face a massive budgetary cliff in Fiscal Year 2012 when several hundreds of millions of federal stimulus dollars go away. We must keep this fact in mind as we begin planning our FY 2012 budget.”

STATEMENT OF GOV. BARBOUR ON SAVING FEDERAL FUNDS FOR FY 2012
Congress recently passed a $26.1 billion bill that gives Mississippi an additional enhancement of $127 million in supplemental funds for Medicaid. “I appreciate the leadership of both houses for agreeing that these additional funds should be saved and spent in Fiscal Year 2012 when we face a budget shortfall of more than $600 million,” Gov. Barbour said.

GOV. BARBOUR WELCOMES BIOFUEL PRODUCER TO MISSISSIPPI
Governor Haley Barbour and officials from KiOR, a biofuels company headquartered in Pasadena, Texas, announced today that the company is locating five biofuel production facilities in Mississippi. In total, KiOR will be investing more than $500 million in its Mississippi facilities and has committed to create at least 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in the state.
