GOVERNOR BARBOUR ASKS CONGRESS TO STOP EPA REGULATION OF GREENHOUSE GASES
Governor Haley Barbour today joined a bipartisan group of governors in asking Congress to stop a plan giving the Environmental Protection Agency the authority to regulate greenhouse gases, a move that would potentially harm the competitiveness of the nation’s economy.

STATEMENT OF GOVERNOR BARBOUR ON NORTHROP GRUMMAN'S DECISION NOT TO REBID ON TANKER
Governor Haley Barbour issued the following statement concerning the decision by Northrop Grumman to not submit a bid for the U.S. Air Force’s next generation of aerial refueling tankers. "It's a shame Northrop Grumman was compelled to pull out of the bidding on the Air Force tanker contract. The process used to choose the companies that build for the military should encourage competition instead of discouraging it. Sole-sourcing is not fair to America’s war fighters, the Air Force or the American taxpayer."

STATEMENT OF GOVERNOR HALEY BARBOUR ON FEBRUARY’S REVENUE SHORTFALL
"The State Tax Commission reported today that Mississippi’s revenue collections continued a pattern of decline for the month of February. Preliminary reports show the month’s collections coming in at 12.39 percent, or $33 million, below estimates.

STATEMENT OF GOVERNOR HALEY BARBOUR ON SENATE VOTE TO SUSTAIN HIS VETO OF SB 2688
“I am pleased the Senate has voted to sustain my veto of Senate Bill 2688, and hope the entire Legislature will now move to resolve this issue. We have the resources to restore funding to our priorities this year, including law enforcement and corrections; such a funding restoration bill is already in a conference committee. It’s critical that we put this fiscal year behind us because we have major challenges and tough decisions to make on the state budget for next year. I will continue working with the Legislature in that effort.”

GOVERNOR BARBOUR SIGNS EMERGENCY DECLARATION FOR OKOLONA MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
Governor Haley Barbour today declared a state of emergency exists in the Okolona Municipal Separate School District, authorizing the state Department of Education to take immediate corrective action.
