GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS FOX TO EARLY CHILDHOOD ADVISORY COUNCIL

 

(JACKSON, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour has appointed Dr. Karen C. Fox, of Fulton, to the State Early Childhood Advisory Council, a newly-established council that meets requirements in the federal Head Start Reauthorization Act of 2007. Designed to advance the development of a coordinated state early childhood system, the Council will provide leadership and assistance to early care and education programs as well as state agencies that provides services for children from birth to school entry.

 

“I’m delighted Karen has agreed to serve on the Early Childhood Advisory Council, which plays an important role in ensuring our state’s young children are ready to learn by age five,” Governor Barbour said. “Karen will be an excellent member and I look forward to her good works in this capacity.”

 

Fox has worked as the chief executive officer of Delta Health Alliance for two years. Prior to this position, she worked as vice chancellor of the University of Tennessee’s Health Science Center. Within her community, Fox serves as a member of the Mid-South Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

 

Fox completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Mississippi and attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee.
