GOVERNOR ORDERS STATE OFFICES IN JACKSON TO CLOSE FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE DAY

Governor Haley Barbour has ordered state offices in Jackson to remain closed Wednesday due to the continuing lack of water pressure citywide. The Governor urged agency heads to decide whether key personnel in their agencies should report to work and to notify them accordingly; otherwise, state offices in Jackson will be closed.

State offices have been closed since Monday when broken water lines disrupted service, causing a threat to health and safety. State offices in Jackson will be without water service on Wednesday, and state computer servers, which use a water cooling system to avoid over-heating, will be shut down.
