WHEREAS, Christmas Day of 2004 and New Year’s Day of 2005 shall each fall on Saturday; and WHEREAS, during the Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas season, many state employees will spend time with their families in Mississippi and in other states; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Haley Barbour, Governor of the State of Mississippi, pursuant to the authority vested in me under the Constitution of the State of Mississippi and applicable statutes of Mississippi, including Section 3-3-7, do hereby authorize the closing of all offices of the State of Mississippi on Monday, December 27, 2004, in observance of CHRISTMAS DAY, and on Monday, January 3, 2005, in observance of NEW YEAR’S DAY. IN ADDITION, I hereby authorize the closing of all offices of the State of Mississippi, in the discretion of the respective agency heads, on Friday, November 26, 2004, in further observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, on Friday, December 24, 2004, in further observance of the Christmas holiday, and on Friday, December 31, 2004, in further observance of the New Year’s holiday. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Mississippi to be affixed. DONE in the City of Jackson, on the 26th day of October in the year of our Lord, two thousand and four, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and twenty-ninth.
